West Bridgford Family Photographer | Family Photo Shoot
I visited a family in West Bridgford to photograph their family. I must say, this is one of my favourite areas of Nottingham. I love to take photos in West Bridgford Park. There are endless possibilities for photos there.
The challenge was to try and capture the whole group in a family photograph. Seeing as there were three energetic children involved I knew I had my work cut out. However, I never like to force these type of scenarios, as they would only upset the kids and produce terrible moody photos. I went with the flow and the mood of the kids. I followed them as they dashed off onto the play frames and into the hiding places in the woods. These produce some great shots in their own right.
I like to photograph children at play, doing what they like to do, being themselves. I find that this shows the children in their true light, and these are the photos that I like to treasure of my own children in years to come. I’m not a great fan of posed studio portraits. I don’t think the kids are either.
Once the kids felt that they had had a good run around and we got to know each other a bit better, I started to suggest, with the help of the parents, that they all got together and sit on a log for a one minute huddle. You only get a few seconds to capture the highly valued family shot! These golden moments were interspersed throughout the session as much as the children’s attention spans permitted.
I think I did an OK job.
